We at Rock’er Board Shop believe that anyone wanting to learn how to surf should take surf lessons. It is the best way to learn safety skills, basic technique and water etiquette while still having lots of fun. Surfing, unlike other board sports, takes some time to master. Even when you think you have it down, you will be humbled by Mother Ocean. Surf lessons help take some of the frustration out of the very long learning curve by teaching you tips and skills that will make you a better surfer right off the bat.

At Rock’er Board Shop we also carry many surfing technique books and DVD’s to help get you started or to improve your surfing.
For the summertime, we do offer a surf conditioning class designed by Rock’er Board Shop owner, Alison Copeland. This fitness class is taught on the sand or grass and focuses specifically on the parts of the body that are used for surfing. Based on her experience with boxing training as well as surfing, Alison’s class puts you through an hour long session of upper body strengthening, core conditioning and yoga-based stretches for flexibility to make you a stronger, more effective surfer. There is a fee of $10. Please call the shop—310) 397-8300—for more info and to sign up as time and place are subject to change. No bare feet please!
Also available at Rock’er Board Shop and our on-line store for your surf fitness needs, the “Surf Stronger” DVD gets two thumbs up from Alison for demonstrating amazing stretches as well as ways to use the stability ball to get you in the best surf shape ever! It sells for $29 and is worth every penny.
